The house is placed
in an area flowed through the Tambre river, very close to the river
beach of Tapia and to the village of Ponte Maceira, a place famous
for its monuments like the medieval bridge built in the XIII Century
using the colums of the Roman one.
Not very far we find Torres de Altamira, a medieval tower wich was
the residence of the Altamira Count, one of the most influential families
from the Galician nobility, especially releated with the Cathedral
of Santiago during the Middle Ages. At the present time there are
only the ruins of the old castle –built on a celtic village-
with a fantastic view of the Valley.
Amaía area is also well known for its thermal waters, discovered
by the Romans. In the XIX Century the bourgeoisie from Santiago were
atracted by the hot springs, building magnificient houses where they
went to rest.
